the rescue homes
LOCATION: Phoenix, Arizona
THEIR MISSION: to provide opportunities for young girls to experience God's unconditional love, forgiveness, and life-transforming power.
After forming the non-profit organization Stop Child Rape For Profit, Inc., the StreetLight Program was launched on January 27, 2009. StreetLight exists to provide safe housing, produce an environment for life transformation and prevent further risk of exploitation to victims of child sex slavery.
Child rape for profit is a rapidly growing problem that affects more than 300 girls in Phoenix alone. These young girls are, on average, thirteen years of age and are being deceitfully taken from shopping malls, lured away from parties and taken from public events. They are drugged, branded, and forcibly prostituted against their will. Having few choices, law enforcement agencies must process these victims as criminals and place them in either juvenile detention centers or send them to jail.
Streetlight presents a hopeful solution to rescue these children from this desperate situation and restore their lives.
In November of 2009, Streetlight began the purchase of a facility which, at any given time, can house between 24-48 underage, female victims of child sex slavery. The property is strategically located on five acres and includes one large administrative building, one large enrichment center, a commercial kitchen, medical examining room, classrooms and six residential houses arranged in a peaceful neighborhood setting on an enclosed, gated campus.
The StreetLight safe house stands as a beacon of hope where rescued victims of child sex slavery can live for an extended period of time and will receive specialized faith-based counseling, normal interaction with a mentor mother in a family setting, professional healthcare, food, clothing, educational and career bases counseling, and the healing they need to rebuild their future. Through Streetlight's recovery program, these rescued girls are rehabilitated through education, field trips, animal therapy, house mothering, mentoring, tutoring, and business skills. Currently, Streetlight has nearly 40 churches collaborating with them, bringing change, hope, and glory to God.
